The Center of the Cyclone Meditation

This is a wonderful centering meditation. It will bring you into the silent space of your own center - what we call the Center of the Cyclone! All around life is swirling and at the center, it is peaceful and calm. Here are the steps:

  1. Sit on the floor (and use a cushion if needed). Cross your legs and rest your hands on your knees. This meditation is done with eyes closed.
  2. It is important to keep your head and back straight and in unison in this meditation. You can imagine that there is a pole going straight down your head and through your back.
  3. Now imagine that your body is situated in the Center of the Cyclone! Start moving your body in a circular motion, allowing your head to touch the area of the Cyclone. You will be forming a circle with the top of your head.
  4. Start slowly and just experience the circular motion.
  5. After a couple of minutes, slowly increase the tempo.
  6. Again, after a couple of minutes, increase the tempo.
  7. Do this increase several times, going faster and faster... until you are “whirling” very quickly.
  8. Then, imagine you are in a big bathtub and someone has pulled out the plug! Feel yourself being drawn down the drain.
  9. Voila! You are now in the Center of the Cyclone. Sitting silently, just experience being there...
