Family Constellations &
Other Systemic Constellations Workshops
Systemic Constellation work sets the stage for some of the most profound personal insight work available today. We have all heard that we are deeply connected with one another.
This work gives us visible, visceral proof of that connection – not only with our immediate family members and ancestors, but even with people we do not know! Participants in this work become representatives for others who are strangers to them, and proceed to talk and act the way these people do. At first blush, this seems strange, but this repeated experience gives us the foundation to understand that there is a deep, unseen connectedness we have with one another.
The systemic constellation work done at the World of Meditation utilizes this connectedness to probe the far reaches of our relationships, as well as our feelings, moods and the polarities of life that are constantly pulling us in different directions.
Here are the descriptions of two different workshops plus follow-up work, offered at The World of Meditation.
- Family Constellations Workshop
- Moving from Surviving to Thriving!
- The Next Steps after Constellation Work
(These workshops are facilitated by Subhan Schenker and Shanti Schenker-Skye, who have been doing Constellation work for over eight years.)
1) Family Constellations Workshop
Family Constellation work clearly demonstrates the practical importance of the Native American tradition that all actions and decisions be based upon the effect they will have seven generations into the future. Constellation work has demonstrated that unresolved suffering and guilt in a family can be passed on from generation to generation. Individual family members carrying these burdens do so unconsciously.
Through this work we are able to observe how past and current events, that are unknown or unacknowledged by us, influence our health and well being on a daily basis. And bringing these unconscious burdens to the surface where they are seen and understood creates the space for understanding and healing to happen.
The phenomenon of the Constellation is profound and can be life altering. We can experience greater awareness and clarity about our deeper longings and the limitations of previously held beliefs about our family system. This increased awareness of a deeper movement within ourselves, and our connections with one another, allows us to participate more authentically and with greater love in our lives.
Family Constellation experiences are transformative for many reasons. Here are a couple of them.
We come to the Constellation with all kinds of emotions, often anger or sadness towards our parents, siblings, partners or children. We can feel victimized and hurt by the way they have acted. The first lesson often seen in Constellations, is that these people are also in the same boat! They have the same emotions as we do, with other people in their lives and they too come from a space of hurt. How they express that may be different than ourselves – although there is usually much more similarity than difference.
So we come to the Constellation unconsciously wanting THEM to change. That is natural. In real life, we carry all the old stories about them and can only see them as actors in these long-gone realities. Yet, with childlike innocence, we cling to the notion that somehow we can change them – with our anger or compassion or manipulation of some sort. We do this very unconsciously and usually tenaciously.
Now, an important understanding: Human nature, given the opportunity to change or have the other person change, almost always chooses the other. The absurdity of this process is apparent when we understand that the OTHER PERSON is playing the same game! So neither one really moves into a new, transformative space.
Constellations give us the opportunity to observe these other persons actually making moves into a “new” space. They are there without the impenetrable resistance that appears to be there in real life. Once this new move happens, another of life’s paradoxes occurs. We have seen what we always wanted to see – that the other has changed in a meaningful way. The mind then looks for ways NOT to do the same. The stronger the old stories we carry, the more difficult it is for us to take the steps of change in the constellation. This is invaluable: to see our resistance to change.
When we do take those transformative steps in the Constellation, the awareness of what is written above can become the stepping stone for each of us to bring something new into our relationships. Otherwise, we can go back into what we call the real world and pick up our old stories again and see the others through them once more.
A significant transformative power of the Constellation lies in our turning around the focus of our attention…away from the other person, and toward ourselves. To see and understand and penetrate our stories, our unconscious behavior, our resistance. And in experiencing them, we can find the door to a new experience of ourselves and of others.
2) Moving from Surviving to Thriving!
A Workshop to help you deal with the stresses of being human – using Systemic Constellations.
You Can Transform Your Life by Understanding the Conflict and Polarities That Surround and Live Within You - Using Systemic Constellations!
Are there issues that you have been dealing with for what seems like forever...and you can’t resolve them?
Do you find yourself in conflicts that seem to have no end?
Do you find yourself stressed out in your relationships, both at work and at home?
Would you like to find effective ways to deal with all this?
Moving from Surviving to Thriving! Is a workshop that will transform your understanding of how life functions around and through you – to help produce the life you really want. You can transform your yife by understanding the conflict and polarities that surround and live within you - using Systemic Constellations.
Systemic Constellation Work is immensely helpful in experiencing the areas of conflict and polarities in our lives and how to resolve the resulting anxieties and pain. That is because the challenges we experience appear in terms of polarities: health & illness, love & hate, good & bad, right & wrong, playful & serious, and many, many more.
Using Systemic Constellation Work, Subhan Schenker has created a revolutionary and transformative approach to reveal how these polarities, when seen as opposites, create anxiety and pain. But when we find that they are complementary rather than contradictory, we can learn how to work with, rather than against, what life is presenting to us.
Systemic Constellation Work helps create this tangible, visual experience of these challenges, using people to represent not only other people in our lives, but also a variety of things, including both aspects of the polarities, as well as emotions, moods and thoughts. This helps us to explore how they impact what we do and who we are as a result of that impact. The insights that we can gain from these experiences are quite transformative. And while part of us may want to run away from these challenges, there is certainly another wiser part that wants to understand the difficulties and learn from them. This work gives us access to the learning in an easy, clear, and non-confrontive way.
“Life is possible only through challenges.
Life is possible only when you have both good weather and
bad weather, when you have both pleasure and pain, when you
have both winter and summer, day and night. When you have
both sadness and happiness, discomfort and comfort.
Life moves between these two polarities.
Moving between these two polarities you learn how to
balance.
Between these two wings you learn how to fly to the
farthest star.”
